چکیده

Abstract Domestic wastewater is the largest producer of in Indonesia which comes from remnants household activities. Hazardous substances such as Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical (COD), Total Suspended Solid (TSS), Oil and Fat contained can cause health problems for humans. In this study, domestic waste treatment was carried out using Multi Soil Layering (MSL) method. The MSL system a method that utilizes ability soil main medium several other media zeolite, gravel, charcoal, sawdust are formed multilevel brick pattern. independent variables variation mixture with (M1) charcoal (M2) also variations Hydraulic Loading Rate namely HLR 500 L/m2.day (H1), 750 L/m 2 .day (H2), 1000 (H3). characteristics include pH 6, BOD 236 mg/L, COD 514 TSS 114 8200 mg/L. results showed best removal pollutant levels average efficiency reducing BOD, COD, TSS, & levels, respectively. 86.39%, 78.29%, 86.56% 79.60%.

Efficiency of a Multi-Soil-Layering System on Wastewater Treatment Using Environment-Friendly Filter Materials

The multi-soil-layering (MSL) system primarily comprises two parts, specifically, the soil mixture layer (SML) and the permeable layer (PL). In Japan, zeolite is typically used as the permeable layer material. In the present study, zeolite was substituted with comparatively cheaper and more environmentally friendly materials, such as expanded clay aggregates, oyster shells, and already-used gra...

Sludge granulation during anaerobic treatment of pre-hydrolysed domestic wastewater

The aim of this study was to examine sludge granulation during the anaerobic treatment of pre-hydrolysed municipal wastewater. The pretreated wastewater had a total chemical oxygen demand (CODt) of 432 ± 20 mg/l, a soluble COD (CODs) of 259 ± 8 mg/l, volatile fatty acids (VFA) of 101 ± 9 mg/l and suspended solids (SS) of 94 ± 12 mg/l. Prior to entering the digester, the influent was supplemente...

Anaerobic reactor design concepts for the treatment of domestic wastewater

Since the earlier anaerobic treatment systems, the design concepts were improved from classic reactors like septic tanks and anaerobic ponds, to modern high rate reactor configurations like anaerobic filters, UASB, EGSB, fixed film fluidized bed and expanded bed reactors, and others. In this paper, anaerobic reactors are evaluated considering the historical evolution and types of wastewaters. T...

Anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) for domestic wastewater treatment

The effect of backwash frequency (15, 30 and 60 min) and influent flux (3.75, 7.50 and 11.25 L/h/m) on fouling amelioration in an innovative external side-stream dead-end microfiltration anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) for the treatment of domestic wastewater at 25EC was investigated. During 6 months of reactor operation, a constant COD removal of 88% and an accumulation of 350 mg TSS/L/d...
